A mesh network was produced from thermoplastic resin by providing both sides of a continuous sheet of plastics with grooves which extend partly through the sheet so that the added depth of the grooves in each surface is to be less than the full thickness of the sheet; the main ribs on one surface are arranged to cross the tie ribs on the other surface; the which separates the bases of the grooves; the sheet thereupon is subjected to a biaxial stretching.
