The panel is of composite construction and is made up from two or more layers of wood which are separated by a reinforcement. The wood can be solid sheets, plywood, chipboard or other similar products, of the same or varying thicknesses. The reinforcement (4) can be metal or plastic and in the form of square or rectangular mesh, expanded metal, plastic mesh or net. A layer is arranged between two layers (2, 3) of wood to form a common interface. Bonding and consolidating the panel is effected by a pressing operation.
