The braking mechanism is for winches. It can prevent reverse rotation, and has groups of three idling rollers (3) in pyramid formations. These are mounted on axles located by radial slots in the opposed radial wall zones (7) of a wheel with a 'U' section edge. The rollers groups are sited at equal angular intervals, and the axles are traversed by an end anchored cable (4). The support wheel (7) is mounted co-axially with a sec. wheel to which the braking effort is applied. The rollers are forced onto an axially parallel circular flange (1) projecting from the sec. wheel. A lever actuated drum tightens a cable (4) and draws all the roller groups onto the wheel flange (1). Plane shoes (9) are used to obtain a wedge effect ensuring one way rotation.
|
