<p>Plant for welding and cutting metallic alloys with the aid of a mixt. of oxygen, fuel-gas and metal powder. The novelty is that the metal powder is contained in a reservoir and fed at a rate controlled by the pressur of the O2 in the burner so that a mixt. of relatively constant proportions of oxygen, fuel-gas and metal powder is projected onto the surface of the metal workpiece. The pipe used to lift the metal powder is pref. surrounded by a fusible seal, which melts if any blow-back of the flame occurs, so air enters the reservoir to prevent an explosion of the metal powder in the presence of O2, and a second fusible seal admits a non-combustible gas under pressure into the O2 pipe. Welding and cutting stainless steels and other alloys using a metal powder consisting mainly of Fe, and where devices prevent any blow-back from causing an explosion.</p> |
