<p>PURPOSE:To decide a cleaning request to a host device by the movement quantity of actual tape by providing three storage sections, physical location information storage section, an operating direction storage section and an integrated moving quantity storage section. CONSTITUTION:The physical location information storage section 11 storing physical location information, the operating direction storage section 12 storing whether direction of the magnetic tape finally is in the forward or in the reverse direction, and the integrated moving quantity storage section 13 storing the integrated length of the movement of tape are provided on the system. With the operating direction of the tape changed, the moving quantity is integrated and when it reaches a preset value, every time an instruction unloading the magnetic tape from the host device 3 till the cleaning is executed is given, the cleaning is requested to the host device 3. Thus, the time of head cleaning request to the magnetic tape device 2 to the host device 3 is controlled.</p> |
