The stretcher designed so that it may be used to rescue an injured person from the inside of a boilder by withdrawal through a boiler manhole, has a trough shaped sheet base with a protective cage all round. The base sheet is flanged up all round with strips attached to the flanges all the way round. These strips support the cage, which is made of round section metal tube. At two corners of the tube is a slot for securing straps or other lifting members. Inside is an angle shaped foot support and at the top is a circular securing strap. Between them is a set of securing straps. In another design, the bottom is mounted on tubes acting as sliders.
