The preferred alkaline substance is sodium hydroxide and preferred coupling components are arylamides or aromatic or heterocyclic o-hydroxy carboxylic acid or of an acylacetic acid, or an aromatic or heterocyclic hydroxy compound or a compound containing an neolisable or enolized ketomethylene group in a heterocyclic ring. Preferably the package is allowed to dwell while moist after the injection and before impregnation, e.g. for 5 to 10 minutes. The impregnation may be effected at 20 to 50‹C for 10 to 45 minutes. Multi-colour effects are obtained.
