Solidification and disposal system for dust-like radioactive waste - uses lidded storage vessel positioned in dump vessel evacuated so that solidification agent can be sucked in

The storage vessel with its liq. in position but loosened is introduced into a dump vessel for permanent disposal of the waste. The storage is fixed in position inside the larger dump vessel, the lid of the dump vessel is fitted and vacuum is applied. The vacuum causes the lid to jump off the storage vessel and simultaneously sucks out the dusty radioactive contents from the storage vessel into the dump vessel interior. The solidifying agent is then sucked in by the vacuum inside the dump vessel, to stabilise the active dust. Finally, the vacuum connection and the solidifying agent connection are closed. Pref. the entire dump vessel with the storage vessel inside it is tilted so that its axis is inclined and the whole assembly is then rotated about a horizontal axis. No remote handling of the lid is required.
