PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR CONVEYING A THIN WEB

In conveying a thin web such as film or photographic paper, the web is unrolled from a supply mechanism and introduced into guiding devices where it is driven near one of its edges. One edge of the web being continuously urged against a lateral guide. The length of web introduced into the guiding devices is metered and recorded, and this data is transmitted to the control circuit of the web drive. The web drive is actuated until the desired length of web introduced between the guiding devices corresponds to the length of web recorded by the control circuit. A slack loop is established where the web runs out of the guiding device, and the web is wound up on a delivery device.
