PURPOSE: To hasten a cure and recovery of a wounded inner wall of blood vessel caused by an enlargement thereof by providing a catheter with an expandable balloon, a means to supply an expanding medium to expand the balloon, and a heating means to heat the expanding medium convectively in the balloon. CONSTITUTION: A soft tube 30 includes a central inner hole 50 and additional inner holes 52, 54, 56 separately. Each inner hole is isolated mutually, and acts to connect a different connecting tube of a manifold 14 to the tip 12 of a catheter 10. An inner hole 52 is connected to a connecting tube 22 for expanding a balloon on the manifold 14, and acts to move an expanding medium into the inner part of a balloon 60 or out from the inner part. An inner hole 54 comprises an optical wave guide 16 connected to a laser heating source. A wave guide 16 ended at the inner part of a heating block 40, thus, radiation rays introduced by the water guide heat the block. |
