1406095 Detergent compositions COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 29 Aug 1972 [1 Sept 1971 12 Nov 1971 22 May 1972] 17560/75 Divided out of 1406094 Heading C5D A detergent composition comprises (A) a water-soluble sulphate detergent having a long aliphatic chain and an ether linkage in which an oxygen of the sulphate group and the oxygen of the ether linkage are directly attached to adjacent carbon atoms, (B) sodium silicate, (C) sodium carbonate and (D) water-soluble antiredeposition polymer; the ratio of (A) : (B) being from 1 : 4 to 1 : 0À7; the ratio of (A) : (C) being from 1 : 4 to 1 : 0À7; the ratio of(B) : (C) being from 2À5 : 1 to 1 : 2À5; the ratio of (A): (D) being from 40 : 1 to 5 : 1; the ratio of (A)+(C) to (B) being from 5 : 3 to 3 : 5; and the ratio of (B) + (C) to (A) being from 4 : 1 to 2 :1. (A) is an alkyl ethoxymer sulphate detergent or a methoxy alkyl sulphate detergent or a mixture thereof. The sulphate (A) may be replaced in part by the alkylbenzene sulphonate detergent of Specification 1,404,161 or by the olefin sulphonate or paraffin sulphonate of Specification 1,404,162 provided the aforesaid relationships between the sulphate detergent (A) and the other ingredients (B), (C) and (D) are still satisfied. The detergent (A) may be in the form of an alkali metal, NH 4 , C 1 -C 4 alkylamine or C 1 -C 4 alkanolamine salt. Component (D) is preferably sodium carboxymethylcellulose. Optional ingredients are (E) ethylene oxide or ethylene oxide-propylene oxide condensates of C 10 -C 16 alkanols; (F) bleach, e.g. sodium perborate; (G) organic builder, e.g. trisodium hypochlorite; (H) dyestuffs and others, e.g. optical brightening agents. |
