PURPOSE:To produce high quality CaC2 with a little fuel (electric power) by blending sludge of CaC2 after generating C2H2 and C powder so that the molar ratio of C/CaO is specified after which the blend is optionally mixed with a binder, molded, and heat treated at a restricted temp. CONSTITUTION:Sludge of CaC2 after generating C2H2 and C powder are blended so that the molar ratio of C/CaO becomes 1-6, pref. 2-4. This blend is optionally mixed with a binder such as tar or pitch and formed into pellets with a crushing strength above 100kg/cm<2> and a tumbler strength above 80%. The pellets are then charged into a CaC2 forming furnace and heat treated at above 1800 deg.C. By this method sludge of CaC2 is utilized, so cheap CaC2 is obtd. and the labor, cost and large site for disposing the sludge are made unnecessary. |
