PURPOSE:The reaction between a specific purine and an arabinofuranose donor is effected by the action of a newly found microorganism belonging to Pseudomnoas to Achromobacter to produce a purine arabinoside useful as drugs having antiviral and antitumorigenic activities. CONSTITUTION:Under the action of a microorganism, such as Pseudomonas stutzeri (FERM-P4170), Flavobacterium rhenaum (CCM298), Achromobacter lactium (CCM69), Escherichia coli (ATCC6750) or aeromanas salmonicide (ATCC14174), the reaction between non- or 2-, 6-, and/or 8-substituted purine or their liposide or lipotide or their deoxyliposide or deoxylipotide and a pyrimidine arabinoside of the formula or its phosphate is effected to give a non-, 2-, 3- and/or 8-substituted purine arabinoside. |
