PRODUCTION OF ACTIVATED CARBON FIBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce activated carbon fiber with superior adsorption performance at a high activation yield and speed by converting a mixt. of specified two kinds of acrylonitrile type polymers into fiber followed by oxidation and activation. CONSTITUTION:A polymer contg. above 90% acrylonitrile and an acrylonitrile type polymer contg. carboxyl and/or amido groups are mixed so that the ratio of wt. average MW (MW)/no. average MW (MW) becomes 3.8 or more. This mixed polymer is converted into fiber and oxidized at 200-300 deg.C for 0.5-20hr until the satd. oxygen bond content becomes 50-90%, followed by activation at 500- 1100 deg.C for 10min-3hr.
