<p>PURPOSE:To provide the title novel substance having a molecular weight of about 600, by culturing novel strains. CONSTITUTION:Strains of Streptomyces nigrescens WT27 (FERM-P No.4131) are cultured in an ordinary medium at a pH of 5.0-9.0 and 15-40 deg.C aerobically to give the objective inhibitor. The product has the following properties: (1) Elementary analysis: C, 57.6%; H, 7.9%; N, 15.2%. (2) Molecular weight: about 600. (3) Melting point: 203-204 deg.C. (4) Solubility: slightly soluble in water; soluble in dimethyl solfoxide, N,N-dimethyl formamide, acetic acid, methanol, ethanol, and butanol; insoluble in ether, hexane, chloroform, and benzene. (5) Color reaction: positive to the smith, Sakaguchi, 2,4-dinitro-phenylhydrazine, and triphenyltetrazolium chloride reactions; negative to the ninhydrin and Ehrlich reactions.</p> |
