The jib (1) derricks on a movable support (2), which in turn pivots on a superstructure (3). The support can also be coupled to the superstructure by an extensible supporting component and connector piece, the component having a tail-weight actuated by a ram inside the superstructure platform. Bolts can be provided to lock the strut ram in various extended positions. The design combines maximum working radius and rigidity with compactness of construction.
