The two part casing 68, 70 of a vacuum is divide into three chambers 98, 88, 92 by two flexible diaphrams 62, 64 movable in respect to the casing and in respect to each other, diaphram 64 being connected at one side, to an output rod 104 extending through chamber 98 and a vent aperture 100 in a casing end wall, and connected at its other side by a collapsible link assembly 132 to the other diaphram 62 whereby when vacuum is applied through a tube 90 to chamber 92 to displace diaphram 62, diaphram 64 is displaced in union therewith and when vacuum is subsequently applied through a tube 86 to chamber 88 the diaphram 64 is moved further into the casing accompanied by collapse of the linkage 132. Blockage of the inner end of tube 86 by downward movement of diaphram 64 is prevented by radial rib portions 152 of the diaphram. The output rod 104 assumes either a fully extended position, an intermediate position or a full retracted position and is held against return load in the first position by biasing springs 128, 130 and in the second position by spring 128. The casing carries a mounting bracket.</p> |
