The machine is equipped with grinding elements provided with abrasive stones actuated in a to-and-fro motion parallel to the direction of the track. It comprises at least one trolley (1) made up of two guiding box elements (1, 1'), provided with guiding rollers (6) which are free vertically. The trolley is connected to the chassis by two levers (15, 16) the upper ends of which are joined by two horizontal connecting rods (10, 10') to the ends of a control rod (14) driven in an oscillating motion, so that the reaction forces on the trolley cancel each other out and the latter is held longitudinally with respect to the chassis while keeping its vertical freedom, the two grinding elements connected respectively to the lower ends of the two levers (15, 16) being driven in a to-and-fro motion in the opposite direction. <IMAGE>
