SELECTIVE HYDROGENATION OF ESTER COMPOUND HAVING ACETYLENIC UNSATURATED BOND

PURPOSE:To prepare a compound having an ethylenic unsaturated bond, in high purity, by hydrogenating an ester compound having an acetylenic unsaturated bond using a reusable selective hydrogenation catalyst obtained by oxidizing a Pd catalyst containing a tin salt. CONSTITUTION:A compound having an ethylenic unsaturated bond (e.g. linalyl acetate) is prepared by the catalytic hydrogenation of an ester compound having one or more acetylenic unsaturated bonds (e.g. dehydrolinaly acetate) in the presence of a catalyst obtained by the oxidation of a Pd catalyst containing a tin salt. The amount of the tin salt is 0.1-20 parts by weight per 1 part of Pd. The precess is especially effective to produce the terpene compound having a tertiary ester.
