<p>A nuclear installation comprises a transportable washing and decontamination apparatus for fuel element transporting containers. The washing apparatus comprises a nozzle system for the wash liquid and a protective anti-splash screen. The nozzle systems and the protective anti-splash screen are constructed as a single bell-shaped unit, suspended from a crane so that the bell can be raised and then lowered to cover and surround the fuel element transporting container. Pref. the nozzle system and the anti-splash screen are connected together by a common support frame, with a drive motor to provide adjustment movements for the nozzle system. The support frame has suspension attachments to enable the crane to lift the entire bell. Used partic. for a nuclear fuel element unloading and processing plant but also for any transporting of a nuclear fuel elements within a nuclear plant. The apparatus enables the decontamination operations to be considerably simplified with a minimum of hand work. It is intended particularly for transport containers of 100 tons or more in weight.</p> |
