PURPOSE:To improve strength at higher temp., to prevent a part where stress concn. occurs from having a thin wall and to attempt to obtain a molded item of a uniform thickness, by closslinking partially a mixture of a propylene polymer with a filler under specified conditions and forming a sheet. CONSTITUTION:Pref. 0.01-0.5 pt.wt. (merely pts. hereinbelow) radical generating agent which is pref. an org. peroxide and pref. 0.5-5 pts. crosslinking auxiliary which is a polymerizable monomer having pref. one or more ethylenically unsatd. bonds (e.g., divinylbenzene) are added to a mixture of 100 pts. propylene polymer which is a crystalline propylene homopolymer and a crystalline random or block copolymer of propylene with an alpha-olefin and 50-100 pts. filler (e.g., talc). The mixture is kneaded at the melting temp. of the propylene polymer to partially crosslink it to a point where xylene-insolubles (extracted with a boiling xylene for 3hr) of said polymer amounts to 5wt.% or higher. The obtd. compsn. is extruded in a specified thickness to obtain a molding material. |
