The transformer iron core consists of yoke and of limbs clamped together to form a magnetic circuit. The windings are wound on the limbs and have metal supporting elements on both sides of the windings opposite each other. Insulators are provided between one end of an encapsulated winding and one of the metal supporting elements. A potential control capacitor is provided in each insulator (17). Its one end is connected to a conducting section (15A) of the encapsulated HV winding (15), and the other to the metal supporting element (11A).
