<p>Heat exchanger tubes which terminate in a tube plate, are repaired by inserting a plug, esp. expanding plug, using a remotely controlled appts. into the end of the damaged tube, after the tube has been identified by means of the same remotely controlled appts. The damaged tube is identified by a visible marking introducing by the same remotely controlled appts. before the sealing plug itself is introduced. Pref. the visible marking is introduced by an insertion tool operated by the remotely controlled appts. Specifically, the identifying mark is mounted on a needle in the insertion plug, expands under its own elasticity to jam in the tube, and is then left there as the insertion tool and needle are retracted. Used esp. for plugging the tubes of steam generators of pressurised water reactors.</p> |
