The measurement of periods during which a communication line is occupied in a computer controlled communication system is determined by two cycle counters. One counter operates in a down count mode and the other in an up count mode to maintain the sum constant at 16. At the start of a communication period the one counter state is entered into a totalising counter (T). At the end of the communication the other counter value is added. The value is held in the totalising counter until the next line transmission, when the new state of the down counter is entered. This procedure continues until the end of the monitoring period. The values held in the totalising counter are processed by the main computer.
|
