Waste compactor with removable container - separated from ram chamber by door which also forms part of pivoted container closure

The waste compactor has a chamber (12) within which waste is placed tobe compressed against a door (19) of a closed container (11) connected to the chamber. The door is then opened by lifting it vertically with rams (21) and the compressed waste pushed into the container before the cycle is repeated. When the container is full, the door remains closed and the container is disconnected from the chamber and removed for emptying. The door forms part of an end closure of he container, the end closure being pivotable about a horizontal axis for emptying the container.
