Measuring device for speed or distance travelled by skier - uses toothed wheels attached to ski and on shaft including magnetic disc

The toothed wheels in mechanical contact with snow are attached to a ski to measure speed or distance travelled of the skiier. Two toothed wheels (3) are enclosed by a casing (2) with protective cheecks (4) on the ski (1). These wheels turn on a shaft (6) mounted in supports (5, 8). A magnetic disc (7) on the shaft rotates inside a drum (9) which is rotated by Foucault currents from the disc against a force from a spiral srping (10). Angle of rotation of drum is visible through a window (11) in the casing to display speed of the skiier.
