In the cleaning process for textile materials, partic. less flexible fabrics, the drum rotation in the initial cleaning stage is controlled to exert a centrifugal force at the drum lining of 0.3-0.5G. The centrifugal force at later cleaning stage is 0.7-1.2G. Between the initial and the final cleaning stages, the cleaning is applied using higher centrifugal forces than the first stage, but at lower levels than the final stage, so that e.g. the first stage exerts 0.4G and the second and final stage is 1.0G. The process ensures that there is an effective and positive cleaning action on the fabric, without leading to a greying effect on the material.
