PURPOSE:To facilitate maintenance and reduce water supplying frequency by providing a cadmium electrode for a part of a ferrous negative electrode to make the cadmium electrode absorb the oxigen gas produced in overcharging the battery. CONSTITUTION:Alternately arranged sintered type nickel positive electrodes and ferrous negative electrodes with a separator between the electrodes and an electrolytic solution of caustic potash consist a ferro-alkaline battery. The negative electrode plate 1 is formed of a sintered type ferrous electrode 2 and a sintered type cadmium electrode spot-welded 4 to the upper part of the sintered type ferrous electrode 2. A terminal plate 5 made of nickel is attached to the negative electrode 1. Desirably, the cadmium electrode 3 is exposed above the level of the electrolytic solution and not to be opposite to the positive electrode. |
