The oscillator comprises an erect torsion rod(10y) anchored to a base and the optical element attached to the free end of the rod(10x). In order to dampen the oscillator and broaden its mechanical bandwidth, the rod is designed so that the spring constant of the section above the armature point may approach that of the rod section below the point.
