Novel substituted imidazoles of the formula <IMAGE> in which R1 is hydrogen or alkyl having 1-3 C atoms and R2 denotes halogen and R3 denotes halogen or -CF3, are prepared. These compounds are obtained by reaction of appropriate pyridyl-substituted imidazoles with a halogenating agent. The novel imidazoles can also be present as pharmaceutically acceptable salts. The said substituted imidazoles can be used as xanthine oxidase inhibitors or for the treatment of hypertension. |
