A deflection system for a portable TV, which can be operated by AC line voltage or battery, is disclosed, The DC voltage at the first terminal of the horizontal output transformer is equals to the B+ voltage available at the time when the TV is operated by AC voltage, because the horizontal output transformer serves as a step-up inverter when using the battery mode. The step-down transformer available at the time when TV is operated by AC voltage is omitted.
