PURPOSE:To prevent the regeneration of data in a desired sector from becoming impossible due to rotation deviation by holding the result of a decision on each check byte after detecting a discrimination flag of a sector discrimination region, and then by deciding on the decision result after all decisions are made. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic medium is sectioned into several cylinders and each cylinder is partitioned into sectors including a sector discrimination region and data region so as to perform read and write operation of data. After the discrimination flag in the sector discrimination region is detected, decisions on a cylinder number, sector number, sector length, and error check code, check bytes of the sector discrimination region, are independently made and their results are held; after all decisions are made, they are made effective only when the decision result of the error check code is correct. |
