1366844 Extraction of Mo and/or Re values MOLYBDENUM CORP OF AMERICA 9 March 1973 [22 March 1972] 11483/73 Heading C1A Mo and/or Re values are recovered from aqueous acidic solutions by extraction using a water-immiscible organic solvent containing where R1, R2 and R3 represent substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups, and where R<1>1 and R<1>2 represent substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl groups, and subsequent recovery of Mo and Re values from the organic phase. The organic phase may also contain an amine anion extractant or where R<11>1, R<11>2 and R<11>3 represent substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups. Preferred extractants of the three types are (dibutyl) - butylphosphonate, di - (2 - ethylhexyl)- phosphoric acid and tributyl phosphate respectively. Amines may also be present. Other suitable extractants, and solvents and amines are listed. The Re may be recovered from the organic phase by stripping with water or the Mo and Re may be stripped from the organic phase with NH4OH and the Re may be selectively recovered from the eluate with a quaternary ammonium extractant. The Re values may be selectively extracted by contact with a compound of Formula I before extraction with the solvent containing compounds of Formulµ I and II. The initial aqueous solution is preferably obtained by leaching molybdenite with HNO3. In comparative examples (1,2) DBBP is used alone to extract Re and (5,6) Mo is subsequently extracted with a mixture of DEHPA, TBP and amine.
|
