PURPOSE:To facilitate edge effect and fog removal by achieving the actions of absorption and squeeze-out of liquid and the electrode effects with elastic deformation, by using porous and conductive material for the elastic member of the elastic roller. CONSTITUTION:A core 1 is inserted into a member 2 which is made from porous and conductive materials in a nearly uniform thickness. The both members are fixed together with conductive adhesive agent. When this roller is used in an electrophotographic copier or the like, the actions of supplying liquid onto the surface to be developed or of recovering liquid therefrom can be effected under the state of electrode effect, so that the liquid squeezing and cleaning operations may be carried out efficiently. By applying an arbitrary bias voltage, when it is used as a roller for development, the edge effect, fog removal, or developed image density may be controlled excellently. |
