For an electronic ignition system of the Kettering" type which is used for internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle, the installation is simplified by mounting the electronic circuit casing directly onto the ignition coil. This allows short wires to be used thereby reducing voltage drops. An ignition coil contained in a cylindrical casing (10) is attached to the bodywork by a collar (11) which is clamped onto the casing by a bolt (12). The clamp feet (13, 14) are bolted to the BODywork. An electronic ignition circuit is contained in a casing (16) and is mounted on the ignition coil by two pairs of flexible arms (17, 18) which are curved and attached to a base element (20). These base elements are housed between a blade spring (31) and the electronic circuit casing (16).
