The tipping front seat of the car has a separate frame for the headrest (1) sliding as a central cushion in the seat back. The frame is hinged at the rear of the seat floor support (2) and as the set tips the headrest and central section slide down the seat back to retract the headrest. The retracted setting of the headrest prevents it jamming under the roof of the car. The separate pivot mounting provides an improved collision support without restricting access to the rear seats.
