<p>Process control is employed during the welding of steel prods., e.g. round bars or sheets, where the number(X) of welds is counted by detecting a signal representing the passage of electric current on the welding machine and counting the number of signals. The number(Xdef) of defective welds is also counted by measuring >=1 actual welding parameter(Pa), the weld being defective when Pa is outside the tolerance limits of a desired value (Pref) representing good quality welds. The process control is pref. employed during electric resistance welding. The amperage, voltage, and/or the resistance of the electric current may be used to obtain values(X) and (Pa), the latter being employed to obtain Xdef. Any change in the ratio good welds:defective welds can be used to undertake corrective action.</p> |
