The orthopaedic sandal, as in the main patents, has a rod (4) housed inside the sole, extending across it near the broadest part of the foot. This carries a linkage (15) near its centre, from which extends forwards a bar (16) carrying a further linkage (18) at the front with one arm (20) extending sideways carrying a plate (22) which rests against the inside of the large toe (14). This system is designed to prevent hammer toe. The cross bar is interconnected with the strap (6) of the sandel so that movement of the foot also operates the linkages. Part of the strap has side extensions (7) with holes (9) through them for engagement in an adjustable manner with leaf springs, one each side for tensioning the strap.
|
