The lock for the two sliding doors on a cupboard has the cylinder lock mounted on the edge of the outer door with the key inserted into it in a direction parallel to the plane of the doors. Rotation of the key turns an arm between the doors, so that a rod projecting from it and parallel to the door is swung against a latch member. This member is a blade with one end secured by screws to the inside of the outer door connected by a necked region so that the other end is pushed inwards, blocking the edge of the inner door. An alternative design has the key inserted at right angles to the plane of the doors.
