Nuclear fuel element container - is transported by crane and trolley and decontaminated by washing bell and base washing device

There is a fuel element handling machine and the trolley travels in a straight horizontal path between a transfer chamber and a discharge shaft. The transfer chamber contains an inlet shaft, with which the crane is associated. The fuel handling machine is associated with the unloading shaft. The trolley carries the fuel element container in an upright position. Between the inlet shaft and unloading shaft there is a station for decontaminating the fuel element transport container. Pref. the station comprises a bell for fitting over the container and an adjacent base-washing device. The trolley pref. supports the container above its centre of gravity. Used typically in association with a pressurised water reactor.
