Spoiler for front of car - has separate sprung sections mounted to fold back over obstructions

The front edge of the car is fitted with a series of flaps (3) to form a front spoiler. Each flap is separately sprung to hold it in the vertical position and is deflected when striking obstructions, to prevent damage. The spring force is sufficient to hold the flap at the maximum speed of the car. The flaps can be positioned nearer to the ground than can a fixed spoiler, for increased effect.
