Closed circuit differential reactor for multiphase reactions - has helical conveyor screw for circulating reaction mixture through catalyst bed

<p>Differential reactor has a solid phase in a fixed bed through which the liquid and/or gaseous or super-critical phase can flow. The fluid is circulated by means of a conveyor screw. Pref. operating conditions are reaction chamber pressure 2.5 kbar at room temp. -2 kbar at 300 degrees C, or to a limit of 0.3 kbar at 500 degrees C. Used for microkinetic and macrokinetic investigations in gas-liquid reactions, heterogeneous catalysed liquid phase reactions and mass transfer investigations. The arrangement incorporates the advantages of an integral reactor, to be achieved for systems incorporating a catalyst fixed bed. Highly compressed fluid phases at very high pressures can be handled and the flow conditions through the catalyst bed correspond to those of an industrial-scale fixed bed reactor. The results can be transferred directly to commercial reactors.</p>
