There are complementary deformations in the inter-facing surfaces of the base plate and rail support plate, with correspondingly shaped elastically deformable intervening insulating elements, making up the rail underlay with noise-modifying qualities. The surface (6) of the base plate (3) facing the rail support plate (4) incorporates a series of widened sections (12) of truncated conical shape, while the opposite surface (8) of the support plate has correspondingly funnel-shaped recesses (13). Insulating elements (15) may be sited only between the flanks (10, 11) of these. This configuration prevents excessive horizontal deviations of rails, regardless of the deviation in which forces are exerted.
