<p>Laminated bullet-proof armour and glass for motor vehicles and protective vests consists of >=1 layer in which minute particles, pref. in the shape of spherical ring sectors, are embedded. They consist of oxide-ceramics, sinter metal, high-strength steel or similar materials and are arranged at an angle from 5 to 85 degrees to the surface. They are embedded in a matrix such as nylon, polyurethane or hard rubber. The angle of incidence between bullet and embedded particle ensures an optimum dissipation of the kinetic energy of the bullet.</p> |
