Medical breathing and anaesthetic apparatus has an absorber with holes through it communicating with a chamber filled with absorbent material. Between the perforated zones is a dividing plate forming breathing and exhalation channels on opposite sides. This connects the breathing mask with the two channels. At the end of the absorber tube remote from the mask connection is a channel with a quick release connection for a balloon or for manual operation. Within the perforated region at this end is a relief valve for the gases breathed out. Similarly, in the perforated region at the other end of the absorber tube is a valve for gas being breathed in. On the side of the housing holding the absorber tube is a vapouriser discharging level with the upper perforations.
