The previously adjusted pressure applied for the endurance testing of sample pieces, such as sections of synthetic tubing, is monitored by >=1 pressure gauge, having upper and lower limit contacts, and forming part of a pressure control system. These determine the necessary increase in pressure over and above the adjusted pressure. Over the same period, the number of control impulses put out from a central unit for maintenance of the adjusted pressure, are counted. Dependent upon the detection of a definite number of control impulses, e.g. 30% more than the average in each period of time, an operation for the identification of a faulty test piece is initiated. The individual valves feeding the separate test pieces are shut and opened to test each piece in isolation. After identification and registration of the faulty piece(s) testing in parallel is continued, without the faulty piece(s) for a period dependent upon the time which has already elapsed and the number of test pieces which have been excluded. The central control unit contains a microcomputer which receives the signals from a converter and calculates the new testing period.
|
