Vertical shaft digging machine - has central and radial cutters discharging onto two independently driven vertical helical overlapping conveyors

The machine for digging a vertical shaft in the ground has a cutting head mounted on a vertical shaft which excavates the middle part, and a radial cutter (13) rotating about its own axis and also about the vertical axis, excavating the outer periphery. The central cutting head is supported on the spindle of a vertical helical conveyor (4). This receives materials cut by both cutters. The vertical helical conveyor forms part of a double conveyor with two parallel spindles (S) the bottom of one, overlapping the top of the other. Both are enclosed by a common housing with a gap at the overlapping region so that material is carried sideways from one to the other. Each conveyor has its drive motor (7) mounted in an upwards directions.
