The numerically-controlled machine has a folding device with spring-loaded folding knives located perpendicular to the plane in which the flat cable is transported. The knives are operated by the pistons of pneumatic cylinders. The cylinders and knives form a unit that can pivot up to 45 deg. in both directions from the vertical to the transport direction. The knives/cylinders unit is mounted pivotally on the piston of a pneumatic rotation cylinder by means of a bridge projecting parallel to the flat cable's transport direction.
