<p>Tube includes an outer metal vacuum sheath or tube contg. a delay line located between an electron beam generator and an electron beam collector. The delay line consists of a coil. or a ring-web configuration, and is located in tube by several bars made of dielectric material and in good thermal contact with the tube. Tube is made of a material which has a coefft. of thermal expansion very similar to the material employed for the bars. Bars are pref. of Be oxide, and the tube is pref. of a W matrix filled with Cu. The delay line is pref. made of Cu, Mo, or W. By using materials with similar coeffts. of thermal expansion for the bars and tube, the danger of cracking the bars, esp. during initial baking of the tube, is eliminated.</p> |
