PURPOSE:To minimize loss of light, by keeping the length of cylindrical flange in which lens supporting part is inserted and that of plunger to secure the optical fiber in specified relation, and connecting the sylindrical flange with lens supporting part, and the lens supporting part with lens by using adhesive. CONSTITUTION:An optical connector consists of receptacle 10 secured to the casing of optical component, and a plunger 20 detachably stored in the inside thereof. The receptacle 10 consists of a cylindrical flange 11, and a lens supporting part 12 inserted into one end thereof. A selfoc lens 14 having a self-coverging type refractive index distribution is stored in a lens mounting hole 13 in the center of the supporting part 12. the flange 11 and the radial expanding part 15 of the lene supporting part 12, and the lens supporting part 12 and the lens 14 are secured with adhesive 16. The relation among the length l1 of the flange inserting part of the plunger 20, the length l2 of the flange inserting part of the lens supporting part 12, and the length l3 of the flange 11 is defined as (l1+l2)>l3, so that the flange inserting part end may be fitted to the lens inserting end even if the length l1 of the plunger 20 varies. |
